Literature Text

We walked hand in hand in heaven

You and I, my dear.

Our love transcends this lifetime

You must know this is clear.

We walked barefoot through meadows green.

We sang songs to the blue sky.

Our voices intermingled in sweet harmony

Sang praises to love, you and I.

Oh jealous God, he couldn't stand

To see us walking hand in hand.

We loved each other more than He,

So He sent you away from me.

But courage, love, we did not fret.

We knew our love grew stronger yet.

Nothing can tear our love asunder.

Let God bring down His mighty thunder.

Oh my sweet and gentle lover,

Why have you gone, betrayed me thus?

You promised once you loved me,

But now you have forgotten us.

You forgot the meadows, the song, the sky…

Your precious God stole you away.

Our love was so strong, how could He break you?

How could you give in, leave me in dismay?

I once loved God, but now I hate Him.

He kidnapped my love and my prospects are grim.

My bonds are tightening, only you can unlock.

Save me, my love, don't stand in shock.

Our love was more powerful than He.

He sent you away, and still you found me.

You knew me for who I was true.

But your misguided fear betrayed you.
I didn't know whether to put this under angst or romance, so random will do.

^ I like that stanza.
